Out of here March 1st, must rent NOW!

1 large bedroom w/ connected private bathroom in 3BR/2BA apartment in Santa Monica, less than a mile from the beach. (apartment is located on 10th St, halfway between Pico & Michigan). Ideal location, convenient to beach, public transportation, groceries, restaurants, & highways (I-10, I-405, & PCH).

Rent is $944/month with $300 security deposit. The room is relatively large & could be split between two people, with each paying their $472 to the off-site landlady each month. Would prefer to rent the room to one person, but if you can provide a buddy to rent it with you, you are welcome to split it. A long string of guys have occupied this rent-controlled unit over the years, so there is no lease & the terms are month-to-month, however we ask that you plan on staying at least 6-months & try to provide the roomies with 1-month notice if you plan on leaving. (There is no lease or credit check, but please provide evidence that you are employed & have sufficient income to cover rent)

The apartment is shared with 3 other guys in their mid-twenties who use the other 2 bedrooms & bathroom. All the guys have various hours at work/school, so usually the place is pretty calm & quiet. Parties do happen, but not often.

Although your room is unfurnished, the living room & kitchen are furnished & available for your use. (TV (no cable), VCR/DVD, microwave, stove/oven, fridge, & cabinet space). The 8-unit complex also has a large shared patio in the back that can be used for bbqs & gatherings.

Closet in the room is good-sized & can hold lots. Bathroom has sink, toilet, and shower.

1 covered parking spot is shared between all roommates. Ample street permit parking is available (requires applying for $15 permit from City of Santa Monica). If you're not much of a driver, most of Santa Monica & Venice is accessible by a short bike ride (which is sometimes even faster than driving)

Laundry is on-site (several coin-operated machines). Additionally there is a laundry-mat within walking distance.

Although Pico & Lincoln are loud busy streets, Michigan is tucked away & is a surprisingly nice & quiet neighborhood.

If you smoke, it must be done out on the patio.

Water/trash are included in the rent. Gas, power, & wireless internet will cost you about $30-40 total each month.

The guys are reasonably clean, but sometimes the place can get/stay a bit disheveled. If you're a neat-freak, you won't like the common areas, but if you can tolerate a bit of a mess on occasion, you'll be fine. Of course, as long as you don't trash your room, you can keep it in whatever state you want.

I've lived here about a year & a half, but am moving to another apartment with a friend. I will be out of the apartment March 1st & that's when I hope to have someone move in too. (move-in dates are flexible after the 1st, but regardless you will pay first month's rent upon acceptance) Security deposit is $300.

I'll be honest, the apartment is a bit older & not as nice as other places in Santa Monica, but for a large private room & bathroom less than a mile from the beach, you can't beat this price. As I'm working long hours & also apartment searching myself, I'm not home too often to show the place. If you're interested, email me ASAP to schedule a time. Pets are maybe OK. They are permitted in the complex (possibly with additional deposit), but the existing roommates are entitled the right to decide what/if any pets are allowed.
